Mom and Dad,
Today I wanted to talk to you about how artificial intelligence might not be able to help in some situations. To fully explain this I will be using an assignment from class to help. Recently we had to teach the class something from our respective fields using AI. I presented how AI is starting to help in the world of taxes. What AI couldn’t help with is the actual presentation and teaching the class. What I mean by this is it is AI cannot help me teach the other students. We all presented on topics related to our majors and I cannot expect the class to know about accounting. This is why I must be able to take what I have learned the past 4 years and present it in a way for everyone to understand. If you ask AI about accounting it will give you many in-depth answers that someone who has zero business knowledge wouldn’t understand. Teaching others shouldn’t be done only with AI as a truly good teacher can connect with their students. Emotion is required in teaching as a joke engages the class or a random question can get everyone thinking like I did in my presentation. Also, demonstrations are very helpful when done by a human because they can point out the human error that can occur while AI may not experience that when coming up with a solution. The connection that forms between teacher and student can’t be replaced by AI therefore teaching should be done by a person with the assistance of AI but never just with AI. The exchange of ideas and questioning of topics is what causes people to discover new ideas or learn to accept other perspectives. So while someone may use AI to inform themselves to truly learn a person must engage in discourse and learn from multiple perspectives.
